A Brief History of Evans Bailey

Evans Bailey came into existence when Ron Evans and Gerald Bailey joined forces to form Evans Bailey & Co, when Mr R A Houston, of the firm Houston, Evans & Co left to practise as a Barrister sole.

Andrew Fletcher joined the firm 1981 and became partner in 1984. In 1994 Evans Bailey & Co purchased Fletcher Gibson & Co and became known as Evans Bailey Fletcher Gibson.

In 2000, the firm moved premises across the road to its current location, and dropped the names Fletcher Gibson to practise in the current form of Evans Bailey.

Prior notable employees include Tom Ingram, until recently a well-known Hamilton barrister, but now a District Court Judge in Tauranga, and Cathy Bailey, now doing an excellent job teaching new lawyers professional skills and practice at the Hamilton Institute of Professional Legal Studies.
